The UK’s independent network operators (altnets) are making a massive contribution to delivering full fibre networks across the UK, thanks to huge sums of money which have recently flowed into the sector. But, collectively and individually, they were not receiving the recognition they deserve, especially against incumbent market-players, such as BT Openreach and Virgin Media.
We worked with INCA to develop a set of positive messages about just how important the altnets are in achieving the government’s target of making 85% of the country gigabit capable by 2025. We then used a number of ‘hooks’ to drive home the message, including leveraging an annual survey showing the scale of the sector. We also delivered fast and compelling comment – newsjacking – on social media, with key online publications and industry analysts.
The extra focus on the sector and the crucial role INCA plays in representing its members has led to the organisation having a record year. More new members than ever have joined and the team hosted its most successful ever annual conference.
