Benchmarking Analysis
THE OPPORTUNITY
GLEIF approached Proactive PR with the objective of better understanding how its content was performing across digital channels - particularly on LinkedIn - and how it compared against companies in the financial and regulatory space.
With a wealth of content going out daily across its owned channels, there was an opportunity to better understand which content themes, formats and messaging approaches were resonating most effectively with target audiences.
GLEIF also wanted to understand trending patterns in audience growth and engagement, and how its own performance could be benchmarked against the industry to uncover new opportunities. These would then serve to strengthen the organisation’s digital positioning with clear, actionable recommendations.
THE STRATEGY
To achieve this objective and further grow its digital presence, GLEIF needed a partner which could deliver a comprehensive Digital Audit and Competitor Analysis Report that combined auditing, performance analysis, and peer benchmarking into a single strategic external communications review.
The project began with a full audit across GLEIF’s owned active social platforms, assessing channel growth, engagement trends, messaging, branding, reach, impressions, AI impact and the organisation’s top-performing content formats over a 12-month period. This established a clear benchmark for performance and identified recurring behavioural and engagement patterns across GLEIF’s platforms.
Alongside the platform audit, Proactive PR also carried out a detailed analysis of six competing organisations operating within the financial, compliance and regulatory sectors. By benchmarking metrics such as comparable follower growth, engagement levels, content strategies, branding consistency, and audience interaction, Proactive PR helped identify both strengths and opportunities for GLEIF to differentiate themselves within the market.
The findings from the audit and competitor review were then compiled into a detailed strategic recommendations framework. This included guidance on content strategy, audience growth opportunities, paid media alignment, and additional ways to strengthen storytelling and thought leadership positioning across all channels.
Once the report itself was finalised, Proactive PR then delivered a collaborative strategy workshop with GLEIF's marketing and communications team to present the findings, discuss recommendations, and align on the practical next steps for implementation.

THE IMPACT
The project provided GLEIF with a comprehensive, data-backed understanding of its digital performance and positioning, giving the internal communications team greater clarity on how key audiences were engaging with content and where future opportunities could be found.
Our analysis helped GLEIF gain a clearer external perspective on which themes, formats, and messaging approaches were driving the strongest engagement across channels, particularly on LinkedIn. The peer benchmarking exercise also highlighted opportunities to further strengthen differentiation and thought leadership positioning within the industry.
The final report and strategy workshop equipped the team with a practical roadmap to improve channel performance, audience growth, and engagement through more targeted, insight-led communications.
